Ace Ghanaian actor and Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Chapter of the Actors Guild, Mr. William Asamoah popularly known on screen as Bill Asamoah has confirmed that Kumasi is the center of the movie industry.
While people think that Accra films are the best because film production started there, others also think that Kumawood Films Industry saved the country from Nigerians and became more significant before it faded.
In an interview with the media during the recent sod -cutting of the Kumasi Cultural Center Amphitheatre, Bill Asamoah categorically said that Kumasi will always remain an Industrial hub.
“Kumasi remains the center of film production in Ghana and today I am delighted that the National Film Authority (NFA) has shown this by bringing this amphitheater to Kumasi.”
Bill Asamoah disclosed that initially most people in the industry thought that films produced in Kumasi were not in standard format, but those claims were nothing but fallacy . After consultations and investigations by NFA, they saw that they could do without Kumawood.
“Now I can honestly tell you that most of my colleagues who work on social media in series and short sketches are doing amazingly well, so this shows that Kumawood is not bad as people said.”
