Mampong Nursing Training tops NMC Licensing Examination Results 2022/2023 –
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) licensing examination results for 2022/2023 have been released.
Information available to us indicates that, St Margaret’s Nursing and Midwifery Training College also known as Mampong Nursing and Midwifery College got 100% for the General Nursing and Post NAC /NAP Midwifery Licensing Exams .
Speaking in an interview with SeanCitygh.net, The Principal of the School Mrs. Hellen Gifty Dwamena Amoah said she is pleased with the examination results, which she eventually hopes will help her to put more effort to make the college one of the best .
‘This is the first of its kind to happen in the history of the College, I’m overwhelmed and happy with the overall results of the candidates ‘ she stated .
The Examination
The Licensing Examinations for the various programmes are held in February/March, June/July, August and November/December every year.
Candidates who pass the licensing examination are issued Professional Identification Number (PIN) and a certificate of registration.
Those who pursue Auxiliary programmes are issued with Auxiliary Identification Number (AIN) and a certificate of registration.
Brief History
Mampong Nursing and Midwifery was started in 1948 by Sr Miriam of the Order of the Holy Paraclete (OHP) and is currently headed by Mrs Hellen Gifty Dwamena Amoah.
The College began with basic nursing courses and short health programmes to educate and support young women and others interested in developing career in health care.
The basic programme was so successful that in no time the college blossomed.
In 1954 based on its success and popularity St Margaret’s Maternity Hospital and Training School was built.
The Hospital and Nursing & Midwifery college were meant to provide careers in nursing and Midwifery for alumni of the OHP Schools in Cape Coast, Accra and Mampong; and other young women in Ghana.
Currently the college which is set in vast acreage has numerous training, researches and student hostel blocks library and lecturer’s apartments and a fully functioning hospital.
The institution educates and graduates over 400 nurses and midwives every year who practice in local, national and international hospitals.
The college offer a line-up of Post Basic Certificate Programmes, Basic Programmes, Registered General nursing (RGN) Diploma, Registered Midwifery (RM) Diploma (females only) and a number of Diploma courses.
