The news of Asempa FM’s political talk show host, Kojo Asare Baffour Acheampong—popularly known as KABA—passing away struck the nation like a storm.
Eight years ago, on 17th November 2017, Ghana lost one of its finest political broadcasters when KABA died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital at age 37, following a short illness.
In June of that same year, KABA had tied the knot with Valentina, a presenter at Class FM. Tragically, he passed away just five months after their wedding, leaving behind a seven-month-old baby.
KABA joined the Multimedia Group Limited in 2009. He first served as a regular host of Adom TV’s morning show, Badwam, co-hosting with Nana Yaa Brefo. He later stepped aside from TV when Omanhene Kwabena Asante took over, allowing him to focus on radio.
He eventually became the full-time host of Ekosiisen on Asempa FM after the departure of Kwabena Bobie Ansah, cementing his place as one of the most respected political voices on Ghanaian radio.
Before joining Multimedia, KABA worked with Top Radio in Accra between 2004 and 2008, rising to the positions of morning show host and news editor.
He was an alumnus of the University of Cape Coast and the University of Ghana, institutions that shaped the brilliant broadcaster the nation came to admire.
KABA’s legacy continues to live on in the hearts of listeners, colleagues, and the many lives he touched through his work.
