Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Akwasi Konadu, has donated 200 dual desks to selected basic schools in the constituency as part of efforts to enhance teaching and learning.
The intervention follows the MP’s recent tour of schools in the area, during which he identified a critical shortage of furniture affecting both pupils and teachers.
The beneficiary schools include Buokrom Block B JHS, Buokrom Block B Primary, Mamul JHS and Primary, Buokrom Block A Primary, Buokrom Estate Basic JHS and Primary, Buokrom Methodist JHS and Primary, Dawul JHS and Primary, and Moshie Zongo JHS.
Although Mr Konadu was attending to parliamentary duties, the presentation was carried out on his behalf by constituency executives.
He expressed gratitude to them for what he described as their unwavering support and strong working relationship, which he said continues to keep the constituency’s development agenda on track.
The MP disclosed that more interventions are underway to provide additional desks and staff furniture to other schools across Manhyia North, stressing that improving the learning environment remains a priority.
Mr Konadu also appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to complement the initiative by dedicating part of their District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to procure more school furniture, as mandated by the approved formula for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
He noted that such collaborative efforts are crucial to addressing the persistent furniture deficit and ensuring that every child learns in dignity.
“Education remains a shared responsibility, and together, we can continue to strengthen the future of Manhyia North,” the MP said.
