MTN Ghana held its 2023 Media and Stakeholders Forum at the Greenwood Event Center in Kumasi as part of its commitment to expand its awareness of its key policies in its operations.
The annual program aims at bringing journalists, editors, and other relevant stakeholders to share ideas and foster collaboration between the company and the media.
Leading the discussions at the forum, the Acting Chief Director of Enterprises of MTN Ghana, Daniel Asare outlined MTN’s general strategy, the business’ network activities, and ambitions to give customers more power.
He said, “We are on course to course to invest over One-billion-dollars in the network expansion by the end of 2025.
Daniel Asare reaffirmed the company’s stance that everyone is entitled to the benefits of a modern linked existence.

“It is critical to connect everyone, and as we consider what this means for economic growth, we at MTN see ourselves as enablers, providing solutions for Africa’s progress,” he said.
Discussing MTN’s investments in Ghana’s socio-economic sector, Mr. Asare highlighted the Ghana ICT Hub project as one of the major partnerships being undertaken in collaboration with the Government of Ghana to create jobs for the youth in various digital disciplines.’ This project will cost $24 million United state dollars, already we have invested $93.2m dollars in social impact projects to touch the lives of over 4.5 million Ghanaians. ‘
Speaking about Ayoba, Daniel Asare said that the company has 50 micro apps, 2.5 million users, and new potential for local developers.
Additionally, he revealed that MTN Ghana and Vodafone are working together to support industry viability as part of merchant interoperability.
He claims that MTN made over GHC 4.0 billion cedis in revenue contributions to the Ghanaian government in 2022.
Additionally, he disclosed that there are 140,000 active merchants and 280,000 agents for the MTN MoMo.

The event was attended by stakeholders from both the private and public sectors, including the Ashanti Regional Director of the Environmental Protection Agency Mr. Samuel Oteng, Asokwa Municipal Police Commander Mr. Mpianim, and a Communication Consultant and former National Media Commission Chairman, Nana Akwasi Gyan Apenteng, the Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association Kingsley Hope, and other senior media personnel and some civil society organizations.
The Acting Chief Director also addressed several key questions confronting the business including the fight against MoMo fraud, SIM registration, Network Data, and the fiber cut.
The media groups shared their opinions on topical issues. The Television Station Editors, Online Editors, Regional Editors -Print Media, and Radio Editors, also spoke on issues relating to SIM Registration, Mobile Financial Services, and Customer Experience respectively.
