The Ashanti Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) organized its first Inter-Officers Gala in Kumasi this May Day.
Spearheaded by Regional Organizer Dr. Francis Adomako (Francois), the event used football to foster reconciliation and teamwork following the party’s presidential primaries.
The Treasurers’ team emerged as champions, securing a GH¢5,000 prize.
Call for Unity:
Dr. Adomako and Deputy Minority Leader Hon. Patricia Appiagyei (Mama Pat) emphasized that a united front is the only way to defeat the NDC in 2028.
They urged members to rally behind flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Criticism:
Speakers launched a scathing attack on the current Mahama administration, citing:
Economic Hardship:
High costs of living despite a dip in the dollar exchange rate.
Infrastructure Neglect:
The alleged failure to staff completed “Agenda 111” hospitals.
Energy & Jobs:
The return of “dumsor” (power outages) and a lack of job creation for the youth.
Health and Strategy:
Former NHIA CEO Dr. DaCosta Aboagye noted that the event promoted both physical fitness and political reorganization.

Meanwhile, Alfred Thompson urged other regions to emulate Ashanti’s lead in countering “NDC propaganda” through internal solidarity.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to bury internal differences and focus on “rescuing” Ghana in the 2028 elections.
