At the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, MTN Ghana’s Chief Executive Officer, Steven Blewett, paid an official visit to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Overlord of Asanteman, along with other company representatives.
During their conversation, Mr. Blewett informed the King that the purpose of his visit was to personally introduce himself as he started his new job and to discuss his vision for the organization he would be leading going forward.
He reaffirmed his resolve to look into every possibility to ensure that MTN’s services to Ghanaians, and Asantemen in particular, are smooth.
“I felt it was right to pay respect to the Asantehene as I start my role as CEO and to learn firsthand concerns, he has so together with my team we can work to address same and to provide better services to the people of Ghana and Asanteman,” the CEO said. “As someone who values the culture of a people.”
The CEO of MTN Ghana expressed gratitude to the Asantehene for hosting the team and for her years of support of MTN Ghana.
He stated that the Asantehene and MTN Ghana have a mutually beneficial partnership and pledged to work toward deepening it.
According to Mr. Blewett, MTN intends to make improvements to the network, data, and other services so that Ashanti residents can benefit from high-quality service.
The CEO of MTN stated, “My goal is to make sure that our operations and services continue to provide excellent support to the people of Ghana, including Asanteman, so that we can maintain our partnership with the people.”
Asantehene:
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II welcomed the MTN Ghana team to the Manhyia Palace and praised the firm for upholding positive working ties with the Asanteman people and the Palace.
He stated that the preference of the locals and citizens of the nation for the MTN network over other networks was not surprising.
Otumfuo requested that the newly appointed CEO focus on training employees as well as several other individuals whose services could enhance the people’s level of service.
“I pray that you work to ensure your services are of the highest quality and helpful for the people of Ghana and Asanteman in particular. I am not surprised that you command over 70 to 80% of the market share in the telecommunications industry,” Asantehene said.
