The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in Bia West and East has launched a free registration and renewal exercise for residents throughout the month of May.
Speaking to Agooha Daily Guide, the Bia West and East NHIS District Manager, Hon. Theophilus Donkor, urged residents who have not yet registered with the NHIS to take advantage of the opportunity and enroll free of charge.
According to him, the entire month of May has been dedicated to helping people who are not yet on the NHIS to register without paying any fee. He explained that applicants only need to come along with a mobile phone number, which will be used during the registration process.
Hon. Donkor further disclosed that individuals without Ghana Cards can still register for the NHIS under the ongoing exercise.
He also revealed that special registration teams have been deployed to various communities within Bia West and East to make the process easier and more accessible to residents. He encouraged people to visit the registration teams whenever they arrive in their communities or alternatively visit the NHIS office at Essam for quick and easy registration.
The District Manager added that NHIS renewal is also free during the promotion period. He advised members whose cards have expired to renew by dialing *929# or by downloading the official NHIS mobile application from the Google Play Store.
Hon. Theophilus Donkor therefore called on all residents to take advantage of the exercise to secure active health insurance coverage for themselves and their families.
