Ghanaian veteran actor Fred Nii Amugi has been honoured with a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the just-ended Sotigui Awards held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The award recognises Amugi’s exceptional contribution to African cinema and his decades-long service to the Ghanaian film industry.
The Sotigui Awards, one of Africa’s most respected film honours, acknowledges outstanding actors across the continent and the diaspora.
Organisers of the event praised him as one of the continent’s most respected screen icons, whose work has helped elevate African storytelling on the global stage.
Fred Amugi, who began his acting career in the 1970s, rose to prominence through notable productions such as the television drama Opinto. Over the years, he has featured in several acclaimed films, including Beasts of No Nation, The Cursed Ones, Gold Coast Lounge, Keteke, Nyame Bekyere, Menua Paa Nie, and Housekeepers.
His remarkable versatility has made him a household name and a mentor to many rising actors.
The Lifetime Achievement Award adds to Amugi’s long list of honours and further cements his status as one of Ghana’s greatest acting legends.
